The BSC AI Factory will participate in the II Gaia-X Spain Data Economy Summit, taking place on 21–22 April 2026 at the Palacio de congresos de Toledo "El Greco", Spain. This is Spain's leading reference event on data economy and data spaces, bringing together the full ecosystem including public administrations, technology centers, research institutions, companies, and European projects, to accelerate the transition from pilots to operational, scalable, and sustainable data space models.
Now in its second edition, the Summit focuses on the real deployment of European data spaces, covering topics such as governance, interoperability, data driven business models, key sectoral applications (industry, health, mobility, smart cities), and the connection between data infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
In this context, Juan David Valencia Mendieta, Senior Research Engineer at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) specializing in the Data Innovation Group within the AI Institute, will represent the BSC AI Factory on 22 April, taking part in the Track 1 panel session:
9:30 – 10:30 | The Future of the Data Economy Moderated by Toni Sanchez Zaplana, this session will bring together leading voices on AI strategy, AI Factories, and sectoral data nodes. Juan David will present the BSC AI Factory and its Data Services, alongside speakers from SEDIA, CESGA, Tecnalia, and ITI.
This participation reinforces the BSC AI Factory's commitment to shaping Europe's data economy and showcasing how advanced computing infrastructure and AI services can enable sovereign, trustworthy, and collaborative data ecosystems.
