Instructor’s biography
Andreia Gaudêncio is a Data Services Specialist at BSC AI Factory and CNCA – Centro Nacional de Computação Avançada. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and specializes in machine learning, biostatistics, and signal/image processing. Andreia has experience in Python, Matlab, and other computational tools, as well as teaching and supervising students.
Daniel Moraes is a Geospatial Data Scientist and PhD candidate in Geoinformatics at Nova IMS, Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He specializes in machine learning and Earth observation, applying AI to satellite imagery, land cover mapping, and environmental monitoring. Daniel has hands-on experience with Python, deep learning, cloud computing, and geospatial tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS, and Google Earth Engine. He has contributed to projects integrating AI and geospatial data, including semantic segmentation and LLM-powered geospatial applications.
João Magalhães is a Professor at NOVA FCT and Principal Investigator at NOVA LINCS, with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a PhD from Imperial College London. He focuses on multimodal artificial intelligence and has collaborated on international projects with Carnegie Mellon, Amazon, Google, and the Portuguese Army. He also co-directs the CMU-Portugal Program, driving research and innovation in AI.
Course Description
Participate in this practical, hands-on workshop to explore the potential of Large Language Models in creating real-world solutions. Attendees will experience guided exercises, learn from real use cases, and collaborate in co-creating AI applications with tangible business or research impact. The workshop leverages high-performance computing to allow participants to experiment directly with state-of-the-art AI models.
